Bio

I am a transplant from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Bellingham, Washington. Red Boots Design is my job now, creating fun, unique designs and screenprinting. I feel like all the crafty things I enjoyed as a kid have come full circle. Now I can turn it into my work and have a great time doing it. I have a great studio in downtown Bellingham above a friends catering company, sometimes it smells so good! The big windows, crazy vaulted ceiling and good light make it a great place to go and be creative and get a lot of work done!
I participate every Saturday from April to December in the Bellingham Farmers Market. Located in downtown Bellingham it is a beautiful and vibrant market with tons of local farmers and delicious food. Being a vendor there is great and the good people of Bellingham really support their local community. We have a business organization here called Sustinable Connections and they get the word out to people about the imortance of local and sustainable within our community!

Etsy is also a fantastic experience! I love all the amazing things that people make and sell here. Having such a great well organized website to display my designs is such a treat! I believe in exercising the power of your dollar and Etsy helps people do that all over the world! I appreciate everyone who shops, sells and even just browses Etsy and get to see all the great art, crafts and designs.

Here are some fun facts about Red Boots Design:

-Red Boots has been going for about 5 years

-I do all the work, designing and screen-printing myself, in my studio

-I do my best to use American made blanks for printing and when things are not US made I check into the responsiblity of the company that supplies them

-I participate in a program called Toward Zero Waste - My goal is to get my production waste down to 90% (I am at 80% now)

-I do my test prints on kraft paper which I then use to gift wrap your order - thus keeping fabric test cloth out of the landfill

-I invest in my community by sourcing as many of my supplies as possible locally

- My hang tags and business cards are printed by a local letterpress company on vintage machines. My thank you cards are printed on a Gocco

-I do a lot of bike themed prints and people often as if I ride a a bike! I do and I have several (mountain, road, touring) The newest addition is my Kona Ute cargo bike which enable me to ride to work, even when I have a lot of stuff. Biking with hangers isn't easy!!!
